Wilma Hatchett and the Hatchett Animal Farm

Wilma Hatchett

We Love Farming in Kentucky and Our Animals!

The Hatchett Animal Farm has been in our family since before the American Civil War and passed down to family members for generations. Food crops are still farmed on the land and we use a part of the land to take care of our animals. Our horses enjoy running and playing in the wide-open space of a western Kentucky pasture. Occasionally, you can see the horses playing with the wild deer or chasing a raccoon, but most of the time they chase each other like they are playing a game of tag or hide-and-seek.

Most of the animals we have on the farm are rescue animals. Since 2006 we have rescued lost, abused, injured and abandoned dogs, cats, horses and other animals and given them temporary shelter at our Hatchett Animal Farm in Henderson, Kentucky. We spay and neuter the dogs and cats and provide medical care when necessary. When they have been given a clean bill of health we try to find them a permanent home with a loving family.

We currently have 4 dogs, 8 cats and 3 horses. At one time we had 10 dogs, 32 cats, numerous chickens, roosters, turkeys and 4 horses – but we had to downsize our operations due to the increasing VET bills, the rising costs of animal care and overwhelming food expenses. To take care of the rescue animals, our current monthly expense is $5,000 per month.

We have a lot of experience in dealing with dogs, cats, horses, livestock and other wildlife critters. Our goal is to share our animal care knowledge with you with helpful tips, product recommendations and instructional videos. In order to help fund our rescue operation we have created an online store of useful products that will help you keep your pets healthy and live a long life. Subscribe and Share our website with your friends.
